Elizabeth Avila (Mercedes Ruehl) has a Thanksgiving table to set for her Latino family, and she is not the only cook in Los Angeles doing it. Gurinder Chadha follows four households of different backgrounds through the same day, with Audrey Williams (Alfre Woodard) and Rachel Seelig (Kyra Sedgwick) among the women in their kitchens. Every family sits down to a dinner that could go badly, and each has its own peace at stake.
