When the Cat Comes

Oliva (Jan Werich) is an old man who tells the neighborhood children about his years as a sailor, and about the day he met Diana (Emília Vášáryová) and her cat, which wears sunglasses. Then a strange circus rolls into town, and Vojtěch Jasný sets the small-town grown-ups against the tale being told. What the film cares about is how easily a child's story and an adult's story get mistaken for each other.
