“Mitchum in Action!”

A young woman (Faith Domergue) turns up at a hospital after an overdose, and Jeff Cameron (Robert Mitchum), a young doctor, cannot stop thinking about her. Soon he is entangled in the death of her husband, Mr. Lannington (Claude Rains), and the two of them are running for Mexico with the law behind them. John Farrow shoots the long road south in a rain-soaked, anxious dread that tightens the further they go.
