Which Way Is Up?

“Three times the Richard Pryor. Three times the laughs.”

Leroy Jones (Richard Pryor), an orange picker, can't work out how he ended up a union leader, only that it has run him out of town and away from his wife, Annie Mae (Margaret Avery). In Los Angeles he falls for the organizer Vanetta (Lonette McKee), while back home Annie Mae turns to a local preacher for comfort. Michael Schultz has Pryor play Leroy, Rufus and the preacher, and Leroy keeps being the last to understand what his life has turned into.
