Whiplash

“Do your best, he said…”

Andrew (Miles Teller) is a young drummer who practices until his hands split, determined to be good enough to matter. His chance comes when Fletcher (J.K. Simmons), the instructor who runs the studio band at his music school, notices him. Damien Chazelle builds the film around the two of them, a student who wants to be pushed and a teacher who won't ease off, each needing the other.
