White Heat

“Pick up the pieces folks, Jimmy's in action again!”

Cody Jarrett (James Cagney) runs a gang of thieves and takes orders from no one except his mother, Ma Jarrett (Margaret Wycherly). He breaks out of prison, gathers his old crew, and plans a payroll robbery at a chemical plant, with his wife Verna (Virginia Mayo) and rival Big Ed (Steve Cochran) close by. Raoul Walsh sets it moving fast, and the law, led by Vic Pardo (Edmond O'Brien), is already closing in on the gang.
