White Oleander

Astrid Magnussen (Alison Lohman) is a teenager whose mother, Ingrid (Michelle Pfeiffer), has been sent to prison for a crime of passion. With Ingrid gone, Astrid is passed from one foster home to the next, each run by a different woman, among them Starr (Robin Wright) and Claire Richards (Renée Zellweger). Peter Kosminsky follows her through those houses, and Ingrid's letters from prison keep arriving wherever she is placed.
