“The strongest will in nature is the will to survive.”

Christopher "Skipper" Sheldon (Jeff Bridges) is a captain who believes a ship can teach boys what a classroom can't, so in 1960 he takes a group of prep school students aboard an old-fashioned brigantine. Ridley Scott follows the voyage around half the globe, with Chuck Gieg (Scott Wolf) and Frank Beaumont (Jeremy Sisto) among the crew. It is about boys becoming men in the company of one another, and what they owe the people who sail with them.
