“Stranger things are happening than you ever dreamed of!”

Charles Beaumont (Robert Frazer), a wealthy landowner in Haiti, wants Madeleine Short Parker (Madge Bellamy), and she is engaged to Neil Parker (John Harron). He goes to the sorcerer Legendre (Bela Lugosi) for help, and the price of that bargain is never what he expects. Victor Halperin's film treats the fear of losing a will as worse than dying, and it keeps that fear in one woman's blank face.
