Whitney Houston: I Wanna Dance with Somebody

“Celebrate the untold story of an icon.”

How does a voice that size come out of a church choir in Newark? Naomi Ackie plays Whitney Houston from her earliest days singing to a congregation to the moment label head Clive Davis (Stanley Tucci) hears her and signs her, while Robyn Crawford (Nafessa Williams) stays close beside her. Kasi Lemmons stages the concert scenes at full volume and lets Ackie carry the weight of every song.
