Someone is killing the finest chefs in Europe, and each one dies the way his own signature dish is prepared. Robby Ross (George Segal), a pastry chef, and his ex-wife Natasha O'Brien (Jacqueline Bisset) are pulled into the case, along with Maximilian Van Devere (Robert Morley), the critic whose praise the victims all share. Ted Kotcheff keeps the pair circling one another through Europe's kitchens, still sorting out what is left between them.
