Gaspard Cornusse (Harry Baur) wants a quiet Christmas in his village in the French Alps, with his daughter Catherine (Renée Faure) beside him. Then a sacred ring goes missing and a man dressed as Père Noël is found murdered, and Christian-Jaque, shooting on location at Chamonix, has the whole village looking at each other. Catherine and Baron Roland de la Faille (Raymond Rouleau) end up on the same trail, drawn together while the suspicion spreads.
