Every Christmas, Mrs Rosie Forrest (Shelley Winters) opens her English manor to a party for orphans, though the house also holds the body of her dead daughter. Katy Coombs (Chloe Franks) and her brother Christopher (Mark Lester) slip in uninvited, and Katy looks enough like the lost girl that Roo takes her. Curtis Harrington borrows the shape of Hansel and Gretel, with a widow who won't let go at the centre of it.
