Who'll Stop the Rain

“A week ago they were strangers. An hour ago they were lovers. Now they are targets.”

Ray Hicks (Nick Nolte) is a burnt-out Vietnam veteran who agrees to carry a package of heroin home for John Converse (Michael Moriarty), a journalist he knew overseas. Karel Reisz follows him to California, where John's wife, Marge (Tuesday Weld), waits for the delivery and crooked narcotics agents start closing in. Ray and Marge are left on the road with the package, Antheil (Anthony Zerbe) behind them, and nowhere to put it down.
