Wild Flowers

F. A. Brabec's Wild Flowers sets seven separate fairy tales side by side, drawn from the ballads in Karel Jaromír Erben's 1853 collection. A mother (Martina Bezoušková) and her children appear in some of them, and the water sprite Vodník (Dan Bárta) in another, each story kept apart from the rest. Nothing joins them but old folklore, color and light, so the dread and the beauty come from the stories themselves.
