“The Gun That Won The West!”

Nobody in Dodge City knows why Lin McAdam (James Stewart) has ridden in after Dutch Henry Brown (Stephen McNally), only that the two men are made to shoot against each other for a one-in-a-thousand Winchester rifle. Anthony Mann follows the gun through 1876 as it passes from one owner to the next, with McAdam behind it the whole way. Dust and hard sun fill the frames, and the rifle's brass receiver throws the light back.
