Winter in Wartime

“A country occupied... A child's innocence lost.”

In the freezing winter of 1944-45, famine has settled over the western Netherlands, and people are leaving the villages for the east to find food. Koolhoven follows Michiel through the cold, the boy still wanting what his father fears.
