Winter Passing

“Sometimes you go looking for something you want. . . and find what you need.”

In the Michigan winter, Reese Holden (Zooey Deschanel), an actress in New York, goes back to her father's house with a book editor's offer: a small fortune for the love letters he wrote to her late mother. Don (Ed Harris), a reclusive novelist, has taken in a former grad student and a would-be musician, Corbit (Will Ferrell). Adam Rapp, in his first film as director, sets Reese among these strangers, and she has to decide whether the letters are worth the trip.
