Witchhammer
“Anyone who stands up for heretics is considered a heretic himself!”
A woman in northern Moravia in the 1670s is named a witch, and no one can say exactly who first accused her. Otakar Vávra follows the tribunal that takes her up, a body of clergy who press the accused to confess to sorcery that never happened, using torture to get it. Father Lautner (Elo Romančík) speaks against the proceedings, which means his own name can be written into the record next.
