Without Apparent Motive

(1971)Directed by Philippe Labro100 min · PGCrime, Mystery, Thriller
“One of them is the next victim. One is the killer. We challenge you to guess who.”

A sniper is killing people in Nice, one shot at a time, and the victims seem to have nothing to do with each other. Commissaire Stéphane Carella (Jean-Louis Trintignant) is put in charge, and Philippe Labro follows him through the riviera's sunlit streets as he looks for any link between the dead. The film is about how a murder with no reason behind it leaves a detective nothing to hold.
