“The thrill is in the hunt.”

Liz Hunter (Cassandra Magrath), Kristy Earl (Kestie Morassi) and Ben Mitchell (Nathan Phillips) are backpackers in 1999 who want one cheap, easy road trip across the Australian outback. Their car stops running, and Mick Taylor (John Jarratt), a local, offers help. Greg McLean sets the story in open country, and the three of them are tied to each other by the only choice left, whether to trust the man.
