Woman in the Dunes

“Haunting. Erotic. Unforgettable.”

On a dune-ridged stretch of Japanese coast, the entomologist Niki Jumpei (Eiji Okada) has come on a short holiday to collect insects. Local villagers lower him into a sand pit to share a house with a woman (Kyôko Kishida), whose one task is to keep shoveling the sand that threatens them all. Hiroshi Teshigahara fixes on a single question, how much of a person's life is made of the work done to keep it going.
