Women in Cages

“The dirty dolls of devil's island. You can meet them for a price!”

In the Philippines in 1971, Carol Jeffries, a naive American woman, is set up by her drug-dealer boyfriend Rudy and sentenced to ten years in prison. Inside, a sadistic head matron runs the cells, and Carol survives attempts on her life while Sandy (Judith Brown), Stoke (Roberta Collins) and Alabama (Pam Grier) share the bars. Gerardo de Leon, working for producer Roger Corman, ends the story on a final shot that Tarantino calls one of devastating despair.
