Women in Love

“The relationship between four sensual people is limited: They must find a new way.”

Two sisters in a 1920s English coal-mining town, Gudrun (Glenda Jackson) and Ursula (Jennie Linden), find their lives pulled toward a wealthy playboy and a philosophical educator. Ken Russell follows the four of them as the talk of love stops being talk and turns physical, with consequences none of them have planned for. The film leaves us with Gerald (Oliver Reed) and Rupert (Alan Bates), two men circling a closeness neither can name.
