“Our national tragedy. Their personal suffering. His impossible task.”

In the weeks after September 11th, Washington lawyer Kenneth Feinberg (Michael Keaton) is appointed Special Master of the 9/11 Fund and told to put a dollar figure on each life lost. With his colleague Camille Biros (Amy Ryan), he faces a stack of government paperwork and families who distrust him. Sara Colangelo leaves Feinberg alone with a spreadsheet of names and numbers, and the figures on the screen refuse to add up.
