Woyzeck

“Shame, vengeance, terror... love.”

In a small German garrison town, Franz Woyzeck (Klaus Kinski) is a private who shaves his captain and takes odd jobs to feed Marie (Eva Mattes) and the child they have together. One of the jobs is a doctor's experiment that keeps him on a diet of nothing but peas, while Marie starts looking at the drum major (Josef Bierbichler). Herzog, adapting Büchner's unfinished play, shot it in only a few weeks, keeping the pace brisk and the town hushed.
