“...and other lies your friends let you get away with.”

In Florida, two old men have run out of things to do with their days. Frank (Richard Harris) is a retired Irish seaman and Walter (Robert Duvall) a retired Cuban barber, and they meet on a park bench after Frank makes several tries at a conversation. Randa Haines follows the friendship through its quarrels, the two of them sitting side by side in the park, talking.
