“Dying to show you a good time.”

Maxine (Mia Goth) is an ambitious dancer who wants more than the life she has, and in 1979 she piles into a van with a small crew bound for rural Texas. Wayne (Martin Henderson) has rented a guesthouse behind a farmhouse to shoot an adult film, and the old couple who own the land have no idea what is about to happen on it. Ti West shoots it with the grain and slow patience of a seventies picture, so the dread builds long before anyone raises a hand.
