Year of the Dog

“Has the world left you a stray?”

Peggy (Molly Shannon), a secretary with a cheerful routine and almost no one to share it with, loves her dog more than anyone in her life. When he dies suddenly, she has to figure out what comes next, while her brother-in-law Pier (Tom McCarthy) and her boss Robin (Josh Pais) go on as if nothing has changed. Mike White, directing for the first time, keeps Peggy in the frame, an office lanyard around her neck and her own voice alone in the room.
