Yearning

Why does a war widow who rebuilt her husband's family's grocery shop suddenly find herself in the way? Reiko Morita (Hideko Takamine) has run it for years, but a supermarket has opened nearby and her in-laws want to turn the shop into one. Mikio Naruse sets her against her husband's younger brother Koji (Yūzō Kayama), who lives in the same house and sees more of her than he says.
