You and Me

“Every time she says 'I Love You'... she breaks the law!”

Every salesclerk at Mr. Morris's big metropolitan department store has done time, and the owner hired each of them on purpose. Helen Roberts (Sylvia Sidney) and Joe Dennis (George Raft) work the counters under the rules of their paroles, which forbid her to marry, and she says yes to him anyway. Fritz Lang follows Helen as she keeps one lie in place so the marriage can stand.
