Robert Curtis (Fred Astaire) is a Broadway choreographer who falls for Sheila Winthrop (Rita Hayworth), a dancer in his new show, and then gets drafted into the Army. He lands at the very base where Captain Tom Barton (John Hubbard), the man courting her, happens to be stationed. Sidney Lanfield stages the Cole Porter numbers plainly and lets Astaire and Hayworth do the work.
