“The west just got wilder.”

In 1881 New Mexico, Billy the Kid (Emilio Estevez) is still riding with Jose Chavez y Chavez (Lou Diamond Phillips) and Doc Scurlock (Kiefer Sutherland), and he is racing for the safety of Old Mexico. Pat Garrett (William L. Petersen) leads a posse of government agents close behind them. Geoff Murphy has the riders crossing open country under a hard sun, with Billy out front and the dust rising behind.
