Zamfir's Zona

Mane (Vojin Ćetković) is a goldsmith in nineteenth-century Niš, a craftsman with steady hands and no money to his name. He loves Zona Zamfirova (Katarina Radivojević), the daughter of the wealthy Hadži Zamfir (Dragoslav Nikolić), who plans to marry her to a rich man's son. Zdravko Šotra adapts Stevan Sremac's 1906 novel in the Niš dialect, and the story holds to one plain fact: in this town, a girl's father chooses her husband by his family's standing.
