Zatoichi's Cane Sword

Zatoichi (Shintarō Katsu), a blind wandering masseur, walks into the town of Tonda and finds it run by gangsters. He wins eight ryo off them in a gambling game he has rigged, and the local gangsters promptly set out to kill him. Kimiyoshi Yasuda gives him a blacksmith's warning that the cane sword is nearly spent, so the man who lives by it has to decide how long to trust the blade.
