Zaza

(1923)Directed by Allan Dwan84 minRomance, Drama, Comedy
“Gloria Swanson in the role she was made for! "Zaza," queen of the gay French music balls; a creature of whirlwind emotions, savage loves and hates- a veritable wildcat. And how she plays it!”

Zaza (Gloria Swanson) is the favorite actress at an open-air theater in a small French town, and she wants the love of Bernard Dufresne (H.B. Warner), a diplomat who keeps away from her shows for fear of falling for her. Allan Dwan stages the rivalry backstage, where a jealous rival cuts the rope of the swing Zaza sings from. She is badly hurt, and the injury brings the two together. He sets her up in a villa, but his wife is still a part of his life.
