“Greatest Production Since the Birth of Motion Pictures!”

Florenz Ziegfeld Jr. (William Powell), long dead and watching from heaven, decides the world needs one more revue in his grand old style. Vincente Minnelli and Roy Del Ruth direct a bill of separate acts for MGM's biggest names, among them Fred Astaire, Lucille Ball, Fanny Brice and Lucille Bremer. Between the acts, Ziegfeld stays up there in heaven, picking out the next number.
