“They're going to save the world... as long as they're home for dinner.”

Jack Shepard (Tim Allen) owns an auto shop and wants nothing more than to be left alone with it, a long way from the man who once protected the world's freedom. The government calls him back anyway, with Marsha Holloway (Courteney Cox) and Dr. Grant (Chevy Chase) waiting on a group of kids with special powers. Peter Hewitt puts Jack in front of Tucker Williams (Spencer Breslin), and a tired man and the children he has to teach start sizing each other up.
