Edward (Gael García Bernal) is a film director who wants his next picture to be different from what the money men expect. Pedro Morelli follows him alongside Emma (Alison Pill), a comic book artist, and Michelle (Mariana Ximenes), a novelist, each in a separate reality and each writing a story about one of the others. Their worlds never share a room, yet every one of them is shaped by a person who has never met them.
