Zulu

(1964)Directed by Cy Endfield138 minDrama, History, War
“Dwarfing the mightiest! Towering over the greatest!”

Lt. John Chard (Stanley Baker), an engineer more at home with bridges than battles, wants only to finish building a crossing at the remote Natal outpost of Rorke's Drift in 1879. Then the Zulu army appears, and he and the aristocratic Lt. Gonville Bromhead (Michael Caine) are left to hold the post with a handful of men against thousands. Cy Endfield, a blacklisted American working in Britain, keeps the camera wide so the odds are always in view.
